COVID Communications Research and Strategies

Government teams and NGOs creating COVID-related communications for their communities need more research to guide their strategies and outreach efforts. Seeing this need, USDR interviewed 39 individuals from throughout the U.S. to help understand sentiments, habits, and gaps for how people may think through choices and information related to COVID-19. The shared findings from this research are meant to help guide strategies to build trust in government COVID communications and to make COVID information accessible to all.

The research and recommendations include strategies and tactics for improved COVID communication, including:

  • Best practices for design
  • Partnership and outreach recommendations
  • Tips for making accessible communications
  • Communication trust diagrams

The research also includes analysis of the following key findings:

  • Where people go for trusted COVID information
  • What information is valuable, and why
  • What people do with valuable information once they have it

USDR’s research, findings and recommendations are publicly available to help strengthen and grow your COVID communications efforts. View the research and recommendations here.
